In application menu, when I slide transparency, Terminus ask me to restart. I restart the app and after, the slider stay in the same place than before, but the opacity was not apply.

I am having the same issue. Recently switching from OSX to Linux Mint and hoping to find a suitable alternative to iTerm, this looks promising but I would like a little transparency if possible.

This is a web-based app so I can see if I can find somewhere this might be able to PR a fix... no promises

ps - the transparency slider, from the UI perspective, feels inverted: that is we generally have sliders increase in value when sliding to the right. Since the setting is titled "Transparency" we would think that the right-most value is the most-transparent, yet it's inverted. 🤷‍♂

I though about it, I've tested with the slider at half value position, but opacity still the same

@zoraneus -- sorry -- I didn't mean to suggest a solution to your problem 😅 I don't know how to fix your slider, but I'm lucky that mine works. I didn't want to create its own issue for a minor UI complaint -- perhaps if others think it's worth tackling they will comment here / create a dedicated issue / create a PR / something else 🤷‍♂

Hey all, awesome project. Issue listed is persistent in Fedora 31, which in case you didnt know is gnome, @ForthTurn probably has gnome as well. Not sure if it would have anything to do with DE but I know of other apps that could render transparency in some DEs but not others.

fedora 31 workstation in VM, I didn't try on the host which is also a fedora, transparency is not working. Some technical specificaitons: it's gnome boxes VM the user interface is xfce4 the underlying process should be mutter then since it's wayland by default in fedora.

still not working with 101 under fedora 31 would be in guest in gnome boxes or even on host.

I have to say I had high hopes for Terminus under Linux - but the settings don't seem to work reliably. The opacity setting is one that doesn't work; others include the "User default shell" that is not picked up (it works in Guake). All in all the responsiveness is also much poorer. Terminals need to be super fast!

Hi. I use this app on Ubuntu 20.04 with gnome 3.36 and i have same issue almost. When i restart my computer Tabby Opacity doesn't work but when i minimize Tabby and restart gnome (with Alt+F2 and run r command) Opacity changed but it set in constant value and i couldn't change opacity. Maybe it could help you to fix this bug.

Hi, This is still an issue on Linux. The opacity doesn't work properly. On Windows and MacOs its works from time to time, sometime yes, sometimes no.

Using Tabby 1.0.173 on a Debian Based Linux (Kaisen-Linux) with KDE.

Lucroz94 avatar Mar 15 '22 17:03 Lucroz94

The opacity setting could be marked as "experimental" or similar under Linux since it definitely doesn't work properly yet.

fabgrel10 avatar Apr 07 '22 20:04 fabgrel10

Running version 1.0.181 on Ubuntu 22.04 with KDE, transparency does work when using these settings:

  • Appearance > Terminal background: From theme
  • Window > Acrylic background: Enabled

However the Opacity slider has no effect. When switching to Terminal background: From color scheme the transparency remains active for the Settings tab and window/tab bar, but the background for terminal tabs becomes opaque.

I can force transparency with KDE's Window Rules: Active Opacity & Inactive Opacity, but that applies to the whole window, so text also becomes transparent.
