Reminders in read-only calendars

Open G-Huber opened this issue 5 years ago • 3 comments

I'm using Etar in conjunction with DavX5 to sync with my own Radicale server. Some calendars on the server are set up as read-only, to share calendar entries one-way.

Entry creation is handled fine by Etar (i.e. you can't create new entries in a calendar that's read-only for you).

Nonetheless I'm experiencing an issue with reminders. Etar seems to allow adding reminders to and removal of reminders from entries in read-only calendars, which leads to issues during sync, as Radicale correctly won't allow DavX5 to change reminders of the entry.

Re-adding removed reminders or removing added reminders won't solve the issue.

Is there anything i can do, or does this need fixing in Etar?

@G-Huber did you ever find a solution for this problem?

Etar probably means to set a phone only reminder not meant to be synced. Like an alarm. Because having a read-only calendar shouldn’t prevent a user from setting a reminder in their own phone if they choose to.

I'm guessing this is not a bug and won't be fixed. Perhaps DAVx⁵ should ignore phone-only reminders on a read-only calendar.

@Redsandro No, I did not. But it wasn't an issue for me since. I set a unlock pattern so my phone no longer randomly unlocked in my pockets and interpreted random touch events.
