Describe the bug When trying to install Page Ruler Redux I get a warning that the extension can read my browser history. Why would it need to do that?

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Install 'Page Ruler Redux' from Chrome web store.

Expected behavior It should not be trying to read anything that is not on the currently opened page.

I just left a comment about this same issue at the Google Extension site. Since it has been roughly 5 months from your post it doesn't appear anyone is currently at 'home' and has been reading the posted issues. Because it asked me the same thing on Ubuntu Linux 18.04.3 with most current Google browser Version 78.0.3904.108 (Official Build) (64-bit) as this date.

until I take a glance at the code, I have no idea if I can remove it and submit a fix or not, or if it will even be merged due to the lack of activity to date

Same issue here. Not installing until we have a clear answer on this dependency. Should only need access to the current browser frame.
