file-geodatabase-api Polygons with arcs do not have the correct area

The API does not include the tools to make calculations under curves correctly. Possibly at a later release.

But its almost a year old. How hard can it be to calculate an area of a surface that has curves?

This issue was added as ENH-000095710 last year. To support this we need to port a geometry library from ArcGIS Desktop. There would be other benefits of this port, like support for more spatial selections (currently we only support envelope intersects), but it's requires a significant resource commitment that we can't make at this time. We would really like to do this, but other commitments make it unlikely.
