email validation
Hello. I am trying to see if there is any way to validate email address entered by the Crowdsource Reporter user. Sometimes people unintentionally or intentionally enter invalid email address. And I wish there was a way to validate an email, and if it's incorrect email address, then to show a message that would ask for a valid email. Because of incorrect/invalid emails we have been observing a high bounce rate ratio on our email server side.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
Thank you, Nataliya
Hi @Nataliya1, unfortunately there isn't a way to do this in the Problem Reporter application. We have received the request in the past so I have added the enhancement label to this issue to consider for a future release.
I believed we talked about Hub Premium a little bit at the Midwest UC, but one thing to consider is if you had Hub Premium and required users create a community user account before accessing the Problem Reporter app, you could capture their user info via their named user and editor tracking. The user would need a valid e-mail to register the community user account. You could then use this rather than asking they provide an e-mail.
Hi @chris-fox, thank you for the information. The Hub Premium could potential work if there was a way to customize a log in screen. Currently the log in screen is too complicated for general public to navigate.
Hi @chris-fox , could you simply use the Field type in the feature layer? After I published, I set the hosted feature layer email field to email type and my phone field to phone type. Hosted feature layer > Data > Field > Edit Field Value Type>" Email Address" for example.
I was amped to use crowdsource reporter but if it doesn't enforce validation using the field value type, my use of this app will be met with resistance.
