Boot Hangs on MSI GS65 8SF

Hey, first time trying to set up a hackintosh and everything I've gone for so far hasn't worked. I've tried opencore and followed multiple guides but I can't even get the installer to launch let alone install and run MacOS.

OpenCore guide that failed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eUnVzJsINCI OpenCore provided guide that failed: https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Install-Guide/

So I thought, hell let's try Clover since that seems to be the way most people get this done. I stumbled upon your repo and thought wow, same laptop this should work then. Alas, no.

The issue I've run into even with verbose enabled is this:

Can't seem to get it to actually boot and this is using the kexts, ACPI and drivers provided in the repo

What was your efi and error that you recieved when using OpenCore? Also what macOS were you installing?

Ideally I would not recommend using Clover due to OpenCore fixes a ton of issues from Clover and even supports Big Sur. I also do have an OpenCore EFI repository but I have not updated it yet. I will do my best to upload it today.

I got a memory error but don't have the exact messaging anymore. Might try OpenCore again if you have something that works. I was trying to install the latest build of Catalina because I wasn't sure about jumping to Big Sur just yet.

I am advising to check out my other repo. It works with Big Sur and should work the same with Catalina. https://github.com/ErrorErrorError/msi-gs65-8se-opencore-macos

Swapping over to the Open Core version did the trick! I also swapped out the WiFi module in the laptop to an ax200 WiFi 6 card and I have working Bluetooth and WiFi with the Big Sur OS install. I was trying to avoid going to Big Sur right now but it's actually running quite well. The next task I'm going to try and take on is to dual boot the system so I can windows 10 running alongside.

Thank you for all of your help!

Best way to dual boot is to have each OS on different drives. Also, I have a program called PrismUI which allows you to control your color keys on macOS, just that it's still a work in process
