Send to Unreal - Combine Child Meshes Option for Meshes and Collision
Addon:
Send to Unreal
Workflow:
Export option for combining child meshes should be separated for Mesh and Collision categories
Description:
Currently, combine child meshes option combines both the static mesh and collision meshes on export. This makes it impossible to work with multiple collision meshes for a single object unless that single object is already combined in Blender. It would be great to be able to work in Blender with multiple objects that will combine on export (in order to keep separate modifiers in Blender) as well as be able to have multiple collision meshes for the parent object.
@Sorai I am pretty sure I understand your request. I can change the combine child meshes to a dropdown with ['Meshes'. 'Collisions', 'Both', 'None'] as the options.
Can you post some screen shots of your use case, so I can make a test case to test this against? Thanks
@james-baber Here is a link to a few images of what I am working with.
In example 1, I have a complete lantern mesh with one box for collision. In example 2, I have a lantern mesh with a missing paper element, but 3 boxes for collision to better conform to the mesh. In example 3, I show my Blender model with the collision meshes. In this case, the paper is a child object of the wood lantern and is being combined on export to create a full lantern object, but I am losing the 3 box collision when doing so.
I hope this helps.
I have the similar issue/need to @Sorai . @james-baber is this something that you are looking at or intend to look at? 🙏
This issue has also been discussed on the Unreal forum and answerhub.
@Liquid-Martin this is on the to do list for sure
@james-baber Is there any update on this feature? It would be a huge quality of life improvement.
No updates yet. Hoping to move this and alot of the one-off operations into separate extensions, to make them more maintainable. Also will add optional collision joining when we do
