How is a promotion candidate picked?

I was not able to find the answer to the question "how does repmgr decide who it is going to promote in a failover situation" in the docs anywhere so I am posting here.

What is more important, LSN, or priority, or are there other factors which determine the failover target? At what point is an LSN considered too old to be selected as a candidate?

Hi,

the LSN should be more important, regardless of the fact that you have always some kind of priority that results from the different node ids.
