[Design Issue] Connect Figma + Storybook
Connect Figma + Storybook Design needs to understand how storybook connects to Figma, what should be connected, and what processes we need to have ongoing to maintain and add to storybook as new features are created. This is outlined further in the A/C.
This task is done when…
- [ ] decide what to do with components that are currently in Storybook that aren't in Figma
- [ ] decide what components can be added to storybook and how granular they must be
- [ ] when appropriate, add language into storybook that describes why we've chosen certain design patterns
- [ ] create written process for ongoing maintenance
- [ ] create written process for adding Figma connections to storybook as new features are created and designed
- [ ] ideas/plans are shared with team
- [ ] ideas/plans are approved by product
- [ ] if there is a long discussion, a summary of changes for dev will be added to the last comment before transfer
- [ ] a list of changes to be made if this is improving an existing feature
Progress: We can't use the Storybook > Figma plugin because there is an issue with ownership of the file. The owner of the file has to be the one who makes the connection, and because of people moving on and off the project there is no "owner" role and that cannot be changed. In order to move forward using this plug in, we'd have to recreate the Figma file and change every Figma link in open zenhub tickets. Instead of taking that effort on, we'll consider the plugin again when we create an MMIS file for future designs.
We've also created a document where we will add Figma links to pages that Tiff can connect to pages in storybook. It will be on ongoing effort to add these links and see how that affects our process.

Waiting for feedback about how to connect apps/services to GitHub repo. Nothing design can do until this issue is resolved.
@thetif I put some new links in the document referenced above if you want to play around with those.

We will revisit this after MMIS.
