Sending Emails from the System/Application
Discuss the process and approvals required to send emails from the system.
This task is done when...
- [ ] Discuss sending email from the system/application
- [ ] Identify whom we need to get approvals from
- [ ] Decide on approach (EC2 instance mail server, AWS Mail Service, MACPro mail system?)
@cthulhuplus I've found this: https://cloud.cms.gov/introduction-email-as-service
maybe give it a look and see if you think this might be a viable option for us to explore?
It looks promising. My only/main concern is with us connecting to an internal system, since we're an external facing application. I don't thiiink it'll be a problem since we are able to use the VPN to access our systems, the networking seems to be there for external/internal communication.
MACPro -> OneMAC can send emails, can we find out who this is/how they did it @NAretakis?
I will reach out to Jamie Morris the PO for OneMAC now that Nick has left
Quick notes from OneMAC meeting:
- OneMAC Leverages Amazon Simple Email Service (SES) through AWS Amplify/SDK
- Content of email was cleared through Business Owner/CMS leadership; PRA maybe something to consider
- OneMAC team will send us Point of Contacts for how they enabled SES
My notes, that weren't captured by Jerome: Verified Identities Register AWS as verified sender (already done?) dkim records Contact "CMS Admin people" get AWS domain registered Talk to Doug or Sally to figure out how to get perms to send
Still waiting ro OneMAC team to provide us some information.
Directed by the OneMAC team to speak with Sabrina. Emailed her to for additional guidance.
We have received additional details from the MacPRO team:
- need to request getting out of the SES sandbox in AWS
- setup SES to work in a CMS world
Beyond this, there is nothing additional we can do until we implement this with online submissions. Going to move this back to the Fridge.
