@tmcelrath @ccwirth - the digitization of field notes would fit best in Module 1D, rather than 5A, since they directly relate to collecting metadata, rather than data "extras". I'll add these comments to 1D.

Difference between 1D + 5A - mostly perspective. 1D - think about things before digitization. 5A - what stuff gets added after digitization happens. What value can still be added?
