Items getting empty "tag" field in NBT causing them to not stack properly

Environment
Server: Self-hosted
Mods Involved:
- Create (Item Vaults)
- Ars Nouveau (Storage Lectern)
- Applied Energistics 2 (AE2) – upgraded, but issue persisted
- CreateStuffAdditions Fix – installed, no effect
- Occultism (Dimensional Storage) – replacing Create vaults eliminated the problem
Problem Description
With one Create Item Vault linked to the lectern, items transfer and stack correctly.
Adding a second vault leads to intermittent split stacks of identical items.
Inspecting block data (/data get entity @s SelectedItem with item in hand) shows one stack carrying an empty NBT compound (tag: {}) while the other lacks it.
Reproduction Attempts
- Observed consistently on the self-hosted server.
- Quick test in a local singleplayer world did not reproduce the empty-tag behavior.
Troubleshooting & Workarounds
- Custom KubeJS Script: Removed empty tags from inventory; tags reappeared after some time.
- CreateStuffAdditions Fix: No change after installation.
- AE2 Upgrade instead of the lectern: Did not resolve the tag issue.
- Occultism Dimensional Storage: Swapping to Occultism’s storage completely prevented the empty-tag stacks.
Conclusion & Recommendation
Create’s Item Vaults are injecting an empty NBT tag on some transfers, causing split stacks. As a reliable workaround, use Occultism’s Dimensional Storage until a fix is released for Create.

This is a pretty major mod issue that seems innocent, definitely needs forwarding to create if that hasn't been done already.
