Your strategy probably does not wait for the resources to become available with `await_resources`, I added documentation for this in #1388.
On which ser2net version did you observe this on? We have seen quite some issues in newer versions.

Thanks for the PR, this is missing a DCO, you can add this with `git commit --amend -s` and doing a force push to the branch.
