Doesn't acknowledge config argument

I'm running et -c resources/assets/less/element-variables.scss from the root of my project but the generator seems to be ignoring the argument and looking for element-variables.scss in the working directory.

Error: ENOENT: no such file or directory, open '/Users/richard/Sites/test/element-variables.scss'

If I run it from resources/assets/less it asks me to install element-theme-chalk
