[Feature Request] Stick No Overlap
In Steam Input, both sticks can be configured to work in either 8-Way Overlap or 4-Way No Overlap mode. The 8-Way Overlap is great for button mapping related to movement (like W A S D), but sometimes I don’t want combined inputs to be possible—such as when playing Euro Truck Simulator 2.
In that game, I set up the Right Stick like this:
RLEFT = [: Turn signal left
RRIGHT = ]: Turn signal right
RUP = Gear Up: Increase gear
RDOWN = Gear Down: Decrease gear
Many times, when I try to turn on the left signal, my thumb accidentally pushes the stick diagonally up-left. This not only turns on the left signal but also increases the gear. Similarly, when I try to change gears, sometimes one of the turn signals activates too.
Steam Input does allow setting the Directional Pad Layout to 4-Way No Overlap, which makes it so that when I push the stick upward, it won’t trigger left or right input—unless I return the stick to the center and push it again in a new direction.
RUP+RLEFT = NONE
RUP+RRIGHT = NONE
RDOWN+RLEFT = NONE
RDOWN+RRIGHT = NONE
RUP,RLEFT = NONE
RUP,RRIGHT = NONE
RDOWN,RLEFT = NONE
RDOWN,RRIGHT = NONE
RUPRLEFT = NONE
RUPRRIGHT = NONE
RDOWNRLEFT = NONE
RDOWNRRIGHT = NONE
RLEFTRUP = NONE
RLEFTRDOWN = NONE
RRIGHTRUP = NONE
RRIGHTRDOWN = NONE
But unfortunately, none of these worked.
That’s why I’d really like to request a Stick No Overlap feature in the future. It would make stick configuration a lot more fun and precise >_<
P.S. Sorry for my English!
