Add more granular options for controlling spell block damage

Open shanzenos opened this issue 3 years ago • 11 comments

Minecraft version: 1.12.2 Wizardry version: 4.3.4 Environment: Server

Issue details: Mine Spell no longer seems to be working, it cannot be preformed(?) on wands or grimoires.

Other mods involved: Ebtwilight forest spellpack, Zettai Grimoires, Ancient Spellcraft

Working fine for me in both survival and creative, with wands, scrolls and commands.

Could you possibly post a video of you trying to cast the Mine spell? I might be able to see if you're doing anything wrong.

Sure, though it used to work pre-update in our server. I am running it as part of a larger pack though, but the only mods updated were the ones compatible with wizardry. The only thing I could think is if ancient spellcraft or zettai grimoires's updates are somehow affecting the spell. It's also the only spell that no longer casts.

Here ya go. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ujv903RDIzbVk9YWYBp4ofibKvNSOqNj/view?usp=sharing In the video I'm RMB clicking various ores/stones that used to work when using mine. Tried hold-clicking as well even though it's a single-click spell (or at least was last update). Something between ancient spellcraft or zettai grimoires must be breaking it. I also noticed some other utility spells (like pocket furnace) don't seem to be working right either? I'll reiterate tho, Installed mods affecting EB wizardry: -EB wizardry -EB wizardry TF spellpack -Zettai Grimoires -Ancient Spellcraft

Okay, nothing looks wrong there. Since that's not an earth wand, it won't be able to break the iron ore but it should work on the coal ore and the stone. I have just tested this in singleplayer with all three of those addons installed and it works as expected. Perhaps there is another seemingly-unrelated mod affecting it?

Thanks for the response. Well that's odd, since they're the only mods I updated. I can start process of elimination to see which it might be. It's really odd though that it was working fine before.

Just wanted to add that I'm experiencing the same issue in my modpack. It might be faster if we compare our modlists, @shanzenos . Here's mine: https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/modpacks/ruins-of-ardania/relations/dependencies

@shanzenos I think that's what you'll have to do unfortunately. Before you do though, just double-check whether it works with wizardry on its own, might save you a lot of time! @faeldray Good thinking!

I'll get to it, been a bit busy lately. I do have a mostly complete modlist of my custom pack. I'll touch it up and send it over soon enough. Also will be checking with wizardry & all the wizardry addons in singleplayer just to be sure.

So one day we're going to look back at this and laugh...

It's not a mod conflict, it's a config setting. If B:playerBlockDamage is set to false, it now prevents the Mine spell from working at all. Which makes sense now that I think about it, but I guess the Mine spell ignored that before?

Is it possible to add a config option to stop player block damage on all spells except for Mine? I just wanted to be able to throw around Greater Fireballs and the like without wrecking the terrain.

faeldray avatar Mar 07 '21 20:03 faeldray

Okay finally going through the backlog of issues, my apologies! This is correct, mine used to ignore that setting for obvious reasons, but it was changed when claim interaction was overhauled because it made sense to have the config option as a last resort to stop all block damage. I might add a third option to allow only spells whose purpose is to break or place blocks, or I might add an option to the spell properties files so it can be toggled for spells individually.

Glad you got to the bottom of it anyway, and sorry for not thinking to ask about the config 😅
