Add Dimmer Switches
This is a big requested one - Add Dimmer Switches
- [ ] Rotary Dimmer Switch
- [ ] Slider Dimmer Switch
Rheostats and Signal trimmers are not enough for this since they get real funny when you add more than one light to the load...
there are 15 light levels in minecraft so it would seem to be easy to make a rotary or slider dimmer switch that can set lights on circuits it controls to any of those 15 levels without changing the wires voltage since in real life dimmers work by turning on and off the light rapidly.
You can already do this with some resistors or something else. Just use some signal trimmers and a large rheostat and you're good to go.
Most real life dimmers are exactly this, it's much more rare to find PWM based dimmers unless you're buying more expensive LED dimmer circuits.
Oh, btw, this is what a muuuch higher current design looks like. This one can output around 20kW of power IIRC at many different voltages. I do caution you though, high current and low voltage on generators causes them to heat up very quickly.
Dimmer switches Need to be implemented and the lamp on off programming for them reworked since rheostats and signal trimmers turn the lamp texture to off when the light gets below 80% output. Also Rheostats and Signal trimmers get real goofy when you add more than one light to the load your trying to dim.
You need to adjust for the current of additional bulbs using an inline probe in current mode when using the rheostat and signal trimmer method with a variable load.
I have not seen the lamp on/off bug you're talking about but I'm going to check later.
I don't see the value of introducing a dimmer when it's very easy to build one the way they would be made IRL.
show me a photo of how to build a rheostat with a inline probe set to amperage and signal trimmer
Here is a photo of the Light on / off bug, it happens when you place just enough coal dust in the rheostat that when you adjust the lights with the signal trimmer, there is a weak glow, but the fixture shows it's off texture.
OK. Will look into it.
the fixtures should show a on texture or a new dim texture until they are very very dim before going off.
