cant connect because magic T
tried logging into web.skype.com before trying to login with pidgin - won't connect tried checking the box that says "use alternative login method" - didn't work still won't connect
not sure what else to do
What version of the plugin are you using? Should be resolved as of v1.7 https://github.com/EionRobb/skype4pidgin/issues/656 What error do you get when the alt-login method is enabled?
Thanks for the fast update! 1.7 has fixed the issue for me. Not sure whether I could use skype chat at all without this plugin to be honest.

using plugin 1.7 alt-login returns error - "Login error: No handler found for resource (code 40499)"

Can you check in Help->Plugin Information that 1.7 is being used and that there's not multiple versions installed accidentally?
That particular error "40499" was resolved in v1.6
Thank you. I finally got it resolved. I didn't install the upgrade to version 1.7 correctly. The thing that kept tripping me up is that when you remove pidgin and do a fresh install, the supporting documentation to install the latest version of the plug-in isn't linked on the plug-in 1.7 github page. Once I read the instructions here I finally realized what I was doing wrong.

Hasn't fixed it for me. I keep getting the magic T value error or some variant on it. no matter if I log in by browser first or check the alternative log in method box.
I have the same problems. I have used the update. Also from Skype itself. But I can't turn pidgin on anymore. But with another account you can. But I want it with my live.nl account.
