No WLAN after AP reboot on HeishaMon communication PCB

Open longtom99 opened this issue 5 months ago • 22 comments

When there is no WLAN available, HeishaMon communication PCB doesn't reconnect to WiFi. E.g. i reboot the AP, no re-connection. I can reproduce it every time. I have TP-Link APs.

Is it software or hardware related?

longtom99 avatar Jul 16 '25 06:07 longtom99

Any other rep than i can use instead of this? Is this rep maintained?

you are in right spot, currently heishamon don't have any known wifi issues, are you on latest firmware version? Just in summer time here is quiet enough :)

Thanks! 3.9 Firmware, recently bought.

Thanks! 3.9 Firmware, recently bought.

Hey Igor, hey everyone,

I also bought a HeishaMon large Board on tindie, v5 with Firmware 3.9 installed. I installed a 9W Alexa power Plug with a USB-C cable to ensure faulty reconnects are not related to undervoltage. (Did try two different plugs with different cables.)

But my HeishaMon large Board looses Connection to the repeater nearly every day. The distance to the repeater is about 2m.

Today I realized the Board doesn‘t freeze but goes into AP-mode.

Thanks a lot in advance!

@Egyras When are you back to check the issue?

longtom99 avatar Aug 09 '25 12:08 longtom99

I think same was in #621

geduxas avatar Aug 09 '25 16:08 geduxas

I have the same issue and I've also written in #621 mentioned above. Large PCB resetting to AP mode like once a month. A reboot fixes it.

Should be solved...

Do you have "Enable WiFi hotspot when not connected" enabled?

@Egyras When are you back to check the issue?

@Egyras Who can have a look at the issue?

longtom99 avatar Sep 07 '25 13:09 longtom99

My large board with v3.9 is uptime 7d and 5h, it's from last power loss. Don't had any issues with wifi after #621 my issue was that heishamon is connecting to first AP in list (had multiple AP) and first was woth lowest signal. So connection was not stable.

After fix, it was solved, and didn't get any problems at all. Heishamon will go to HOST mode only after it disconnects from network. It could be any reason, and you need to find out why in your setup it happens.

Every other device is OK, only Heishamon. It would be easy to send some logfiles to @Egyras or whoever maintains the code.

longtom99 avatar Sep 07 '25 16:09 longtom99

@longtom99 one thing that you could do is to attach some serial monitor, and log errors till when it happens.. maybe it could reveal what's happening

Ok, will try. But strange that no one else hast this issue.

Hello everyone, I have the same problem. Heishamon is in AP mode at irregular intervals without the WiFi failing first. Only a reset will help. Soft is 3.9

Had no time to do the logs or serial monitor. Maybe you can do. ;-)

Edit: I am in LAN (big heishamon) now. :-)

Hello Bot!

longtom99 avatar Nov 17 '25 07:11 longtom99

So, Heishamon loses the WiFi connection even without the WiFi failing. In the Fritzbox log I can see that heishamon logs out of the wifi and logs in again immediately afterwards. (correct) In the event of an error, you will no longer be able to log in after logging out. Heishamon is in AP mode.

Same here with 3.9 Firmware and Unifi APs. Reboot fix it.

AlexanderSch90 avatar Dec 20 '25 17:12 AlexanderSch90

I have the same problem. Large board with version 3.9 installed

When wifi AP's are being rebooted for any reason, the Heishamon will enter AP mode.

But even if the wifi AP's are available again the Heishamon will not reconnect back to the wifi itself. Only after a reboot of the Heishamon the connection gets restored.

I hope that this problem could be fixed.

Maybe someone can help and do this: "one thing that you could do is to attach some serial monitor, and log errors till when it happens.. maybe it could reveal what's happening"

I am now on LAN.

longtom99 avatar Dec 21 '25 12:12 longtom99

I have also noticed the same behavior. Does white mean connecting a serial monitor? Is that a USB connection?
