Calendar could not be created. Is access to the Calendar blocked for this app?

When I try to create a calendar in ios, it shows the following error: Error: Uncaught (in promise): Calendar could not be created. Same here.. Getting "Calendar could not be created. Is access to the Calendar blocked for this app?" although access and permission is granted.

*running on iOS 11

Help would be appreciated

Wondering if anyone was able to find the actual cause of the problem and any solution or workaround... It still seems to be an issue on some iPhone's but not all.
