Mir math and physics books, please check copyrights

Open arkscz opened this issue 5 years ago • 4 comments

There's a website uploading books published by Mir, which are loved by many. Here are the links : https://mirtitles.org/category/physics/ https://mirtitles.org/category/mathematics/ I am not sure about copyrights though, I've read somewhere that Mir publishers closed down but I think that doesn't entail the books becoming public domain. If someone could check the copyrights then let him do it please! I think these books would be interesting for this repository.

Isn't archive.org quite untrustworthy though? I'm more worried about the moral side of trespassing on copyrights (If you meant using archive.org as a safe haven).

archive.org has a robust DMCA process; I know the folks who run it and I trust them to be responsive to copyright concerns. Mir books may be a good example of "orphan works"; I don't know the background of the mirtitles.org site.
