[Towny] Disable 'friendly fire' to prevent same-city residents from unwillingly being killed by malicious newcomers.

Open keijodputt opened this issue 2 years ago • 3 comments

There was a case of a player asking to join towns and killing the Mayor right after getting a plot by turning PVP on. I'm pretty sure this can be disabled by restricting same-town citizens to PVP each other with a Towny setting such as friendly_fire_enabled: 'false'

This setting prevents that if citizens aren't allowed to change the plot type to Arena as well, a faculty only the Mayor had back in the day, or if the plot was sold as an Embassy type.

My proposal is to find a way to prevent friendly fire by testing this Towny setting, instead of letting ill-intented players from exploiting this situation.

no friendly fire is annoying and players don't need more babysitting

Thanks for the report. Only allowing friendly fire from someone you've attacked might resolve this issue. PvP consent for town members.

With the number of new players and new cities (and overclaim speculation), the methods of recruiting new players have changed in EMC and they became more faster and aggressive than before, and some people are taking advantage of this "hype",they join all the towns of new players and activate pvp in their plot as soon as they have one and kill the people there, you can even be fooled if you forget to remove a plot for sale for example

I'm not for banning scams, but this feature provides nothing good for the community and will in the long run make people more paranoid than before, + the fact that a person without any rank in a city can activate pvp inside a "safezone " (that's how people feels in their town) is so counterintuitive that it can only be known after being tricked

its not just "it is what it is git gud", how can someone guess this thing is on and can be used to kill them in their own city, that's not logic at all

so yeah please look at it for the next update, and add pvp consent on same town members :)
