Characters are corrupted when shown in UTF-16 encoding

There appears to be a mixture of both single and double byte characters shown. This problem exists on both Windows/Ubuntu in the latest official binaries.

Edit: Happy to see that this has been partially fixed in 0.24 beta wtih 3be1e8e, just need to show all the characters in double-byte representation (or monospace) for ascii mode

UTF-16 isn't need to be in always double byte? Can you explain on picture shot?
