I tried to run the website evidence collector using Ubuntu 19.04, but I get the following error: Cannot read property 'chromium_revision' ...

Anyone?

Dear @FlyingHawkic,

can you please describe how precisely you have installed the website evidence collector? Please note that Ubuntu does not support the installation with privileged (root) accounts.

Thank you for your reply. I tried to install the WEC on a Windows machine, but that didn't work out. As the website of the EDPS mentions that it should work on Linux, I used Hyper V to launch Ubuntu and followed all the steps as described in the read me files.

Did you attempt the solution discussed in #20 ?

My colleague managed to install WEC on Windows without virtualisation. Can you remmeber the error message you were facing on Windows?

I didn't see the relevance of that solution as the error is different and I am the owner of the laptop so I should have all the needed privileges to install any software.

I just didn't understand how to install it on a Windows machine as there was no .exe file and I couldn't find the information on how to install it. Do you have a readme file for installation on Windows, because I might try it then.

This is a limitation of the dependency puppeteer on Ubuntu and potentially other Linux distributions.

Try these tutorials (untested) to install node and npm on windows:

  • https://phoenixnap.com/kb/install-node-js-npm-on-windows

Afterwards, proceed to the installation of the website evidence collector with npm install as detailed in the README.md.

Many thanks. I'll try the installation on Windows.
