Issue Description

Performance appears to be significantly impacted for higher grid count runs. Make sure the out-of-the-box settings for supported grid/compset combos are appropriate, or at least not detrimental. Perhaps using the "-xx" settings would be a good approach as it would lead developers on the path of not using a "bad" setting.
