WMP API Sound audio does not play

Open QuentinMcCarthy opened this issue 1 year ago • 1 comments

I recently moved to a new computer, and in the process had to re-setup a lot of applications, ACT included. Something I noticed only shortly after getting everything setup was that none of my spell or timer alerts in ACT were working. I assumed originally I simply hadn't heard them, but only now did I actually go in to test.

Through testing of the sound settings, WAV and TTS sounds in ACT do not work when using the WMP API Sound setting. Beep plays the Windows alert tone as normal. Using Windows API Sound fixes the issue, however my concern is that it's only one sound at a time and it's unclear if it queues new sounds or discards them.

"One sound at a time" should be easy to understand if you use the play button on a long enough sound... but in words, it will stop playing the previous sound and start the new sound immediately.

Have you tried the sub-checkbox on the WMP implementation? Is there anything in ACT's error log when you try to play something? Does ACT appear in the volume mixer after attempting to play?
