10x has 2 versions of their Flex technology:

  • Next GEM Flex:
    • Next GEM Flex Multiplex User Guide
    • The first original probe based assay, with recommended 8,000 cells targeted per probe barcode and up to 128,000 total cells per channel.
  • GEM-X Flex:
    • GEM-X Flex Multiplex User Guide
    • Redesigned microfluidics that allows for recommended 20,000 cells targeted per probe barcode and up to 320,000 total cells per channel.

Preferred term label

  • 10x Next GEM Flex
  • 10x GEM-X Flex

Synonyms

  • 10x Next GEM Flex: Next GEM Flex
  • 10x GEM-X Flex: GEM-X Flex

@zoependlington A new version of 10x Flex has come out: https://www.10xgenomics.com/support/flex-gene-expression/documentation/steps/library-prep/gem-x-flex-v2-for-multiplexed-samples

Will need to reassess what is the best way to distinguish assay versions
