Clarification/definition update requested: no restrictions
Requested clarification or update to "no restrictions" term.
Current definition: This primary category indicates there is no restriction on use.
H3Africa requested the term is renamed to "no specified data use category" and change the definition to "This data use category indicates there is no specified restriction on secondary use."
Per Lyndon Z:
this was specifically because we had confusion with the 'no restrictions' term. We weren't sure if the term only meant the data can be used for any purpose or if it were to be applied if none of the data use requirements were applicable, as some of those are restrictions.
Per @GiselleMarie
No specified data use category seems more vague to me. If I see "no restrictions" I understand it to mean that there are no restrictions on data use. No specified data use category to me sounds like that there is not a suitable category to be applied or that one hasn't been applied at all.
We agree with the final comment, and original definition.
could we add an example or note to prevent further confusion? @mamanambiya maybe you or Lyndon have a suggestion?
proposal to add a synonym "unlimited use" "open access data" to the term "no restriction"
