Thanks to @jbleyel I've discovered this is in fact caused by Brave browser's Shields' Fingerprint blocking (strict mode). Possibly related to AudioContext (which was a very quick'n'dirty bipping implementation). I do intend to add a toggle for that feature and better handle exceptions.
