WIBNI we had named "themes" of configuration settings

Open JohnScholes opened this issue 7 years ago • 3 comments

Describe the issue you are having

We currently install one-size-fits-all configuration defaults. It might be nice to have pre-canned themes, where each theme is a complete specification of all configuration settings, together with defaults for: font-size; window size/position, etc. Themes would be analogous to colour "schemes" and might have names such as:

  • Default
  • Zen
  • Demo
  • Tablet
  • Baroque
  • Rococo
  • Psychosis
  • ...

Just a suggestion.

Did you connect to an already running interpreter or start the interpreter from RIDE?

How do you reproduce the issue?

Great idea John. There was talk of this a while ago but in the form of allowing the user to specify a path to their own prefs file. That way you could create themes yourself and simple pass the path of the file to RIDE and it would be loaded in. What do you think?

Sounds good. I think I'd like to maintain a number of different themes (one for daily use; one for demos; one for a 13" laptop; one for working with a large screen; ...) and be able to switch easily between them.

Hi, just want to "up" this topic again. The simpliest right now probably is just to add a possibility export/import color scheme. Use-case: I want to create a scheme and export it to all my other computers where I have RIDE installed.
