[BUG]

Describe the bug Recurrent issues updating certain apps. Happens with a few, whereas most seem to rarely, if ever, have the same issue. Jami is a common one that happens a lot, made worse by its large size and slow server(s), so it takes forever to download only for the install to fail and to have to try it again (and usually that fails, too).

It will complete the entire download, then there will be a notification with an error. I unfortunately don't remember it exactly, but it's along the lines of "failed to verify integrity" or something like that. For the longest time I've assumed it's an issue on their end, but this time I tried in F-Droid and it worked fine (also seemed to download faster), which leads me to suspect it may be an issue with Droid-ify.

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Install problematic apps (e.g. Jami)
  2. When available, attempt to update
  3. Update fails

Expected behavior Update should complete without error and without wasting bandwidth.

So this issue is caused because file either got tampered or corrupted, later seems to be your case as the download is slow and app size is large

Possibly, though it's strange it only seems to happen with certain apps, and fairly frequently with them. I'd forgotten when I posted, but Jami also often fails in a similar way when updating through the Play Store. Seems unlikely I would download dozens of other apps, some also fairly large, and over months rarely have issues with them, but have repeated issues with certain ones, if it was simply corruption occurring during the download. Why then are these few apps constantly corrupting, and most others never are? Still, given it happens with the Play Store as well, perhaps it's not an issue with Droid-ify, and maybe it was just a fluke that it downloaded fine with F-Droid right after failing twice with Droid-ify. But it still seems very strange, and like something could hopefully be done do improve it. Not sure if it's possible to do integrity checks during the download (I'd think it would already be, but it seems not if it could be corrupted) or if it has to wait until it's complete to check it, wasting all that data and time.
