Calques

Open danielnewell opened this issue 4 years ago • 6 comments

Add a visual cue of some sort that a given root is external to the current language. Maybe a line being green instead of blue, the text being bolded, or something like that. Additionally, add a flag that makes this clear in the tool tip text.

ORIGINAL TEXT Allow people, in etymology, to set a term as a calque.

I support this idea. It would be pretty interesting to see how this pans out.

There is the option to add foreign roots already. If what you’re looking for is simply a way to recognize calques, would you just want a tag to appear on the word’s lexical entry?

I just want to make sure that I’m addressing this in a singular and unified manner.

What do you mean?

Personally, this is what I had envisioned. Maybe it would be visualized by turning the line in the Etymology Tree red or green, or possibly adding a small little label.

@bobby-bolton

Ahh, that is highly doable. I can add a visible cue to this pretty easily. I'll update the description of the ticket to reflect that.
