Am I able to add decoration around the windows?

Am I able to add window decorations, for example like this:

Or is this currently being worked on?

Eventually yes. But currently this feature is not supported and much more fundamental changes to fireplace are required.

Fireplace is currently not in a state, where I would consider drafting a release (see https://github.com/Drakulix/fireplace/issues/52). Once there is a somewhat stable release, I will consider various packaging options. Debain is certainly of high priority.
