Please try it with apptainer-1.3.5 or 1.3.6. This sounds like a [problem](#2561) that was fixed in 1.3.5.

That looks like an installation error in the go release, nothing to do with apptainer. See golang/go#60983.

Is your host a native arm64 machine, or are you running CPU emulation like I did? Can you run apptainer directly on the VM, without docker?

singularity-3.8.3 is awfully old. Can you instead do `module load apptainer`?
