database problems under Kubuntu 11.10

Open DougEdey opened this issue 12 years ago • 7 comments

Converted from SourceForge issue 3520426, submitted by dr-tszap2

Have to search for recipe database every time and upon opening recipe StrangeBrew reports 'new ingredients detected!' and prompts to 'save' them which it WILL NOT do. Most tools do not work, preferences cannot be saved, recipes and ingredeients cannot be saved... BTW ALL subdirectory's are in default locations in StrangeBrew directory. Other java apps such as MultiShow and Arachnophilia work just fine and have no problems saving files and config settings so StrangeBrew should work...

Do you have the full .zip installed when attempting to use Strangebrew?

I believe this is a side effect of the present working directory.

How do you launch Strangebrew?

If you navigate to the directory containing the StrangeBrew.jar and launch

java -jar StrangeBrew.jar

Does the tool function correctly?

PS: Please do not add bug comments when you are frustrated, it does not help anyone.

Please can you replace the StrangeBrew.jar in your installation directory with the one located at: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1229658/StrangeBrew.jar

And see if the issue is resolved.

Didn't matter if I tried to run it from the GUI like most modern Java Apps, or from the CLI (going directly to the StrangeBrew directory) like an antiqated and dumb Me$$yDOS program (or a Micro$haft 'java' app), it still couldn't find its own directories...

Sorry, if you're not able to provide constructive feedback it is extremely difficult to find the cause of the issue.

  1. Please update the StrangeBrew.jar file with the one located at http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1229658/StrangeBrew.jar
  2. Run the application with the -d option. This can be done from the command line by appending the startup with -d. I.e.

java -jar StrangeBrew.jar -d
