Feature Request: copy preference settings and chose an unique repertory for install
Already, EXCELLENT application, very practical. I have 2 suggestions ... An option to copy preference settings in the new version (keyboard shortcuts, ADDon, ...) and an option to choose to replace the old version in the same directory. I use a "Corsair" keyboard with a key mapping to Blender, but I have to change my location every time I update my blender
Hi! What you are proposing is leading to question of how to properly interrupt active Blender session and override files. About preferences: it all stored inside C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Blender Foundation\Blender\2.81*. So I don't understand what's wrong with it.
Hello, (I'll try to explain myself lol) there is nothing to change to download files, just automatically rename the directory of the version you choose to activate .. (for example: "Git- 87c017985719-15-Sep-10-29 " in " ActiveVersion ") so whatever the version activate the path will be the same, because the Corsair ICUE software memorizes the entire path of the active blender file with which it is linked ... or the path name changes every time
for the preferences : they are not really in C: \ Users \ Username \ AppData \ Roaming \ Blender Foundation \ Blender \ 2.81 * (not for me) ..they are in the download directory for example: Git-87c017985719-15-Sep-10-29 \ 2.81 I guess they are in "AppData" only when using an "installation" version and not in "ZIP" .. currently in APPData I only have old preference, and for the same reasons each update must copy the preferences in the new version ...I'm really sorry my english is really bad ^^
@lord666 all custom (user defined) preferences and add-ons are stored on C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Blender Foundation\Blender\2.8* folder.
I'm aware of "one build" solution but it has many issues to address so I can't say much about supporting it right now.
I understand, Blender 2.81 is constantly evolving :D ..I will continue to rename the path of access by hand lol
for "the user preference", I understand very well .. but I certify that "on my PC" the preference of blender 2.81 is absolutely not in this directory (I even delete it to check), for blender 2.80 ("install" version) "yes" ... but for Blender 2.81 ("Zip" and "Blender Version Manager" version) "no", each version of blender 2.81 has individual preference. I don't know why this difference of location between your and mine version. I just tell you this for information, it doesn't affect "Blender version manager". In any case, thank you for taking time to answer me and thank you again for your great application :D
