Design Issue: Web pages look empty with materialize

I noticed that whenever I use materialize my web pages look like they're empty no matter what I do and particularly on desktop. On mobile it looks fine most times but on desktop it almost always looks empty

I really like materialize and want to keep using it and I am wondering if we can change up the design of it to address this problem to make it even better.

I don't know if the color scheme makes it look empty or the container method centers it in too much but I have noticed that it is a problem. Even when I fill the page as much as I can it looks empty.

I have tried the same content with other frameworks and the page looked like it was full enough. With Materialize it looks like its shiny and wacky and I put no effort into it. Even the materialize site looks like its empty even though there is a lot of things in there. I really don't know what it is that makes this happen. I'm wondering if anyone else knows the problem or how it can be fixed.
