Mark as read stops working

After some re-oppening of the app the read posts appear again. It seems that there is a limit of 500 hundred posts marked as read (mentioned on issue #285 ). Is there a way to increase or decrease this limit?

Just wanted to say that I also think that this setting should absolutely be user configurable!

@Docile-Alligator any thoughts on this? Can you tell us why the limit of 500 was chosen? Do you have objections to raising it or making it configurable?
