post and comment sort orders do not follow subreddit defaults
For example, the BST (buy, sell, trade) post that is pinned at the top of r/flashlights defaults to sort comments by new in a browser or other reddit app. Also, in that subreddit the posts are sorted by hit as a default, except for in Infinity.
Additionally, after changing the sort order, the sorting should go back to the default upon logout and login. Alternatively each subreddit's defaults could be customizeable by the user.
Have you checked if the "Respect Subreddit Recommended Comment Sort Type" option is enabled in Settings -> Sort Type? Additionally for your second comment, check if the "Save Sort Type" option is unchecked in the same page.
Okay I missed the "save sort type" option so hopefully this solves my issue. Thank you.
I have the same issue. "Respect Subreddit Recommended Comment Sort Type" does nothing for me.
The stickied threads in subs usually have a "New" sort type, but using Inifity they all share the same "Best" instead.
@joavd can you share an example?
Yes of course.
Usually threads on posts are sorted by "Best". That's what happens on most subs, the exception is usually on the Stickied posts, which that are stickied/pinned at the top of the subs (you need to go there directly, they don't appear on the frontpage/home) and those are usually sorted by "New" since they are there over multiple days, sometimes even months.
For example, if you go to r/Barca, you have 2 stickied threads. Either of those are sorted by New(suggested) according to the subreddit. You can see this on any pc.
However, when accessing through Infinity (and I have the "Respect Subreddit Reccomended Sort Type" Turned ON, in the Settings > Sort Type) the behaviour mentioned above does not happen for the stickied threads. Be it on that sub I gave as an example or any other sub.
So every time I go into a sub and I want to check the Stickied thread, I need to sort it manually, since Infinity is not respecting the suggested Sort Type. And since I have the setting mentioned above it seems to me as a bug. I'm on Android 11 if it helps anyway, can also record my screen if it helps visualize
@joavd thank you
