I plan the following two VR experiences:
(1) Poppy (or someone with similar infectious enthusiasm) with 2 Quest3 headsets at the desk able to put them onto random people, and me back at Birkenhack with my full body trackers on in an avatar. Everything is logged into the same VRChat room so that I can interact with whoever is there the moment their eyes are in the headset. This could involve showing themselves in the mirror, drawing with 3D pens, and me dancing at them.
Needs chargers, choice of world, swivel chair (for seated use for older people), wifi hotspot, and computer+monitor to screencast pictures from the headset.
(2) Phone based Hubs instance courtesy of @ajlennon ideally of a room that looks like our hackerspace. We print a QR code of the link so that people can log on directly on their phone in an instance. Someone (eg me) is in a Quest2 headset elsewhere is able to welcome them in and gesture and talk to them from an avatar and lead them around.
Needs QRcode printed, a room designed, a page for people's emails so we can email out to them a link to a Hubs meeting the following week, and a discord link to Immersive Liverpool. People can easily see the various uses for a Hubs instance, and can use our email out (BCC to everyone so the list isn't shared) to get back to us with any requests to use.
Going from experience, the participants will be:
(a) small children. people always put children in first no matter what.
(b) grownups with no knowledge whatsoever, who just want to tick this experience off their bucket list.
(c) grownups with a lot of VR experience who are not in our network, and might or might not want to know us.
(d) grownups who have no experience, but are ready for it, and whose minds get blown.

Let's make it a brilliant, creative and welcoming event for all! Thank you for being part of Wirral MakeFest 2025 ๐ Attached (for those of you not too familiar with Birkenhead) are a couple of maps to show the transport connections. Birkenhead Central is the closest Merseyrail station to the library, about a 15 minutes walk after that.
Several buses stop right outside the library, including the 42, 464, 471, 472 and 41.
By car, the nearest car park is Turner Road, which is on the opposite side of the road to the library, by the traffic lights.
Thank you in advance for your support of Wirral MakeFest 2025. Please bring reusable cups, water bottles and packed lunch. There will be a cafe but it may get busy.
Kind regards, Alison, John, Jules and Tony
We attended the event on Saturday and had a great time chatting with visitors and other makers. Thanks all who came.
