PAT test all the "portable" appliances in the space

Open amcewen opened this issue 2 years ago • 6 comments

It may seem like we've only just closed an issue about PAT testing (and we did, it was #1529), but lots of the items on the PAT test register were last tested in 2021, so we should test them again. Another pass round the space will also catch any newly-arrived items which have slipped through without getting tested.

Made a start on this today, and tested the heatpresses and most of the rest of the stuff on the same worktop. Need to test the printer and the extension nearest to it (which we need to pull out cupboards to get access to), and also the extensions for the bookcase-of-things.

We're getting chased for an updated PAT report from the landlord, so need to get this moving again.

It'd be nice if it wasn't pretty much all left to me to do this time round. Digging out the things that need to be tested and putting them back afterwards takes probably as much time as doing the testing itself (maybe more), and that doesn't require any PAT training :grinning:

I wonder if it would work to combine it with things like the proposed reorganising of the CNC room #1949, as that will involve lots of similar moving/tidying of equipment?

I’m happy to help with this, I’m a bit restricted with times but weekday evenings are better for me. I don’t mind doing the PAT test training or moving stuff.

Thanks @Tactile-electronics. Either would help :grinning: The details for the PAT training are here on the Wiki

Maybe we could pick a weekday evening sometime to do some testing together, and then you could see about going through the testing yourself too?

Started working through the backlog of PAT Testing, with 22 devices tested today.

I plan to raise a doodle poll for a hack the space day so that we can work through another batch of the PAT testing. I will post an update in here once a date has been confirmed.
