Set up the new large-format printer
Gina Czarnecki generously donated a new large-format printer. It can print onto media other than paper—such as canvas for banners—as well as paper, so should be an upgrade from Queen Victoria.
We need to...
- [ ] work out how to use it
- [ ] find out the price for inks, etc. and set the pricing (using the setup for Queen Victoria as a guide)
- [ ] create a wiki page for it with any tips/tricks, link to the manual, etc.
- [ ] choose a name
- [ ] create a label here for any issues to log against it
Replaced the Light Light Black and Magenta cartridges
The new Magenta cartridge is not being accepted by the printer. Aiming to syringe the ink into the old cartridge tomorrow
Following advice, I ordered an new compatible magenta cartridge from eBay. This has been installed, but the printer is now showing an error for the photo black cartridge. I don't want to be replacing expensive ink cartridges one by one, so have asked @amcewen to put me in touch with Gina to see if she has any more info.
Gina visited and ran the clean function for the ink cartridges. The printer was still reporting an error with the "Light Magenta" cartridge, so we ordered another one. I have installed this, but it isn't being recognised. It would be good if someone else could check this, otherwise I think we should send it back.
I meant to update this a while ago.
The printer was working momentarily, but is now asking for a new waste tank - I'm concerned that we'll order that and then it'll ask for something else ...
I know there was some talk of converting this to use refillable cartridges. Does anyone want to go down that route now?
I've replaced the full wate tank with a brand new one - That error message has now resolved. However, as Jackie suggested above, it's now asking for several new cartridges. I trieed resetting and cleaning and shaking but I think they are just clogged or empty (age maybe an issue) but there are four that are persistently no good and about four two more that have intermittent errors. I suggest a decision is made as to whether there is a use case to justify buying a complete new set of official cartridges to see if that gets it working and, if not, scrap/return/re-home it.
