Feature request: Mention that the app can render a subset of Markdown

I'd appreciate a tiny help section accessible somewhere within the app that states amongst other differentiating factors (someone else might propose the help section?) that it's Markdown-compatible, which 'flavor' it uses, and the extent of its ability to render.

A lot of people don't have the patience to look at GitHub, might bringing some info into the app broaden its appeal further?

As a side issue I emphatically do not like the underscore for emphases, moar stars pleez! 🤡

I appreciate that it's probably quite challenging to ensure that asterisks are rendered to the user's intent when people use them in any casual social setting.

This is actually a bug that hopefully will be fixed in the next release. The markdown is used internally and shouldn't be leaking out.

Ow, that's a shame, I was enjoying seeing emphasised text for once outside Reddit. (I don't use much else).

I'd guess if it was put to a vote it wouldn't go my way either.

Sure. There is (was?) a debate about supporting markdown in posts in mastodon as a whole but until that happens I don't think 1 client can implement it unilaterally
