Feature request: Swipe anywhere to go back

It would be great to be able to swipe back from any place on the screen, and not just from the left edge. It would make one-handed usage so much easier.

The official Mastodon iOS client implements it, and it's an option (on by default) in Mammoth as well.

It seems that now swiping is customizable but there doesn’t seem to be an option to swipe and go back. I’d really like to be able to set it so that when swiping from left to right that I go back.
