Feature request: alt text translations
Right now it is not possible to translate media descriptions (alt texts), and it is also not possible to even copy them to translate in some other app manually.
I believe this is an important accessibility feature that is worth implementing.

I came here to add this request if someone hadn't already. Thanks.
I'll attach my screenshot anyway.

I second all this. Just came here to ask that Alt Text not to be displayed in a modal alert dialog but in a different way where it can be selected/marked and copied or any other context menu used in iOS/iPadOS. This way I could at least use the system translation services or lookup services.
Please do not consider Alt Text as only for B/VI people. It sometimes contains a lot more information for people who don't get the context from the image itself.
I myself am not B/VI but I really read alt text to fully understand the pictures. And sometimes, I'd love to lookup the meaning of a word in alt text because I don't fully get it.
By using a better Alt Text UX where we can also mark just a word and use iOS's context menu, we could benefit from the iOS's additional features.
(This is btw true also for regular post texts: please make them selectable so that I can just use "Define", "Lookup", or "Translate" in iOS/iPadOS).
Thank you
Aside; Just letting me keep the alt text open all the time is preferred, instead of hiding under a button. I often want that text more than I do a picture. Especially if I'm going to long-tap words for definitions or translations or creating a calendar entry or reading the Wikipedia article about that person or quoting a piece of in a reply toot or the multitude of other things I do with text.
