Windows8.1 can't apply handler either.

Dear @Dijji I am a new user of file meta and I think it's so great .It helps me a lot to manage and query my files by customizing my own handler with searching in Windows search at system layer(like Mac OS) . And I notice that Win10 have defaulted some format handler which can't be changed by file meta as u say in wiki. So I downgrade my system from Win10 to Win8.1 and the problem still. The block formats listed in wiki still can't be manage. Are there any methods to change the default property handler or solve the problem in another way? Finally appreciate ur great job and hope the problem will be solved soon.

Thank you, it's great that you find File Meta useful.

As far as I know, there is no way around Microsoft's block on replacing certain handlers. However they are doing it, it is buried beyond the reach of ordinary mortals and it is not documented.

I'm fascinated that the issue goes all the way back to Windows 8! Also, to finally have a meaning for "*". I will see if I get the same, and if so, consider allowing it to be set in the Association Manager, though why you would go to the trouble of adding a property to a file extension when it either could not be seen or could not be edited is very unclear.

thanks for your responds.

The problem occured when I was going to add Tags for video format(.TS .avi and .mp4) and these formats were blocked listed in https://github.com/Dijji/FileMeta/wiki/Affected-extensions.

.ts and .avi can't be edited in properties or previewed, when I custumized them in customs profile. But .mp4 works by troggle "" of System.keywords in preview panel(that's how I find the "" means).
