OSN is not functioning properly with DGCS basemap_daily

Open KevinMcGee opened this issue 8 years ago • 1 comments

I ran this area: 121.7850003052 31.1234001923 121.8250003052 31.1634001923 with the default DGCS token and OSN found 98 features. I then ran that same area using the basemap_daily token to utilize our most up to date imagery and OSN found 0 features. I've also set the confidence level to 0 and we still get 0 features detected. @gijenk manually looked at the source imagery and believes that OSN should be able to find a few things

I also ran this area: 116.5649990845 40.0601010132 116.6049990845 40.1001010132 and got the exact same issues.

Some initial thoughts on the issue are: The image from basemap_daily is in grayscale and OSN hasn't been tested on grayscale imagery before. @geovations thinks we should investigate the difference between the source imagery and the training data and determine if there is a significant difference

Confirmed with @gijenk that we're getting white tiles back from DGCS basemap_daily. I believe we're also getting this issue with EVWHS and it has something to do with the image being grayscale.

How we found this: After removing the "Airliner filter" and setting the confidence to 0, we got almost 19000 features for 121.7850003052 31.1234001923 121.8250003052 31.1634001923. Unfortunately, all of the features were of the same category and had the exact same confidence score. @gijenk informed me that this is most likely because we are getting white tiles back from DGCS basemap_daily
