Release v1.0.0 (stable)

It's about time to consider releasing the first "stable" release of 1.0.0, and get rid of the prerelease status.

That said, I'm guessing we'll need more unit tests to ensure that at least the basic functionality works and is tested for, so I'm hoping to compile any known/future issues here and see how close to 1.0.0 we really are.
