Match Date field with default value
Can you add the same functionality to default the date to a PHP date string? Like we've done with the default Date field.

In general, yes. But it will take a while – too many UI related things broke in 2.4. It would be great if this would become a real extension of the core field where Date and Time only adds the multi-date functionality on top of the date field. symphonycms/symphony-2#2002 is related to this.

@nitriques: The request is to replace the checkbox "Pre-populate with today's date" with an input were the default date can be defined as string (e. g. today or now).
