Sidebar open and close animation is extremely slow and choppy

Current Behavior

Clicking the "hide sidebar" button results in an extremely slow and choppy animation.

Steps to Reproduce

1.Click the hide/show hamburger menu button at the top left of the ui

Expected Behavior

The animation is either smooth and quick or it's just a toggle between states (no animation is better than the current situation)

I am also on macOS, using Firefox, and this doesn't happen for me.

@mterron Is it possible to cross-check with colleagues of yours, whether they experience the same issue?

Either way, v4.7 or earlier is pretty damn old at this point, perhaps this will be fixed by updating to a newer version.
